Information About This Position

The Medical Assistant reports to the Clinic Manager and will work across multiple locations supporting a physician and/or provider team.

Hours: Mon-Fri varies; some nights and Saturdays possible.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Experience in a Medical clinic environment is a plus. 
  • Basic Life Support- CPR Certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to project a professional, pleasant image while interacting with others; must demonstrate tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and multitask.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Advanced level of computer skills required, including electronic medical records, fax servers, internet, spreadsheets, and Word/Excel. 
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients, assembles chart information, preps clinics, and schedules patient appointments.
  • Directs patient flow, triage, rooming patients, and patient care as assigned.
  • Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, as needed. 
  • Prepare patients for X-Ray procedures and other diagnostic tests.
  • Competently and accurately obtains and records patient information; assists provider(s) in clinic.
  • Quickly and efficiently responds to patient inquiries and requests. 
  • Coordinates scheduling for referrals, diagnostic tests, surgeries, physical therapy, DME, etc.
  • Tracks test results and reports for provider review and schedules appropriate follow up appointments. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical equipment and examination rooms.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance patient experience.
  • Abide by policies and procedures set forth by OrthoSouth, licensing and accreditation bodies, OSHA, and other governing bodies as applicable. 
  • Travel to multiple locations is required.
  • Other duties as outlined by the supervisor, manager, or provider.
