Medical Scribe

Information About This Position

Medical scribes play an important role in supporting healthcare providers during patient visits. They work closely with doctors to document patient exams and ensure accurate and thorough medical records. They may also help with patient flow by triaging, rooming patients, and supporting patient care tasks. Medical scribes accurately collect and record patient information and perform other duties assigned by supervisors or physicians. Their work helps improve the efficiency and accuracy of patient care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Basic Life Support- CPR Certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to project a professional, pleasant image while interacting with others; must demonstrate tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Ability to multi-task, self-motivated and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail is necessary.
  • Advanced level of computer skills required, including electronic medical records, fax servers, internet, spreadsheets, and Word/Excel. 
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Scribe is preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Great position for students in their gap year working to get into medical programs.

Responsibilities

  • Accompany providers during patient exams to assist with documentation as directed bythe provider.
  • Enter orders as directed by the provider.
  • Interact effectively with providers, peers, patients, family members and vendors.
  • Assist with patient flow, triage, rooming patients, and patient care as assigned.
  • Competently and accurately obtains and records patient information.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or physician.
