
Tyler A. Cannon, MD
Dr. Tyler A. Cannon is a dual board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity orthopaedics. He is a highly accomplished orthopedic surgeon with a distinguished background in medical education, research, and community service. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Prior to his medical training, Dr. Cannon attended a series of respected universities, including Southern Methodist University, Rhodes College, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, consistently earning high honors and academic scholarships.
Following medical school, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic, where he was recognized as an American Orthopaedic Association Resident Leader and was awarded the Hugh Smith Research Award. He further specialized his training by completing a Joseph H. Boyes Hand Surgery Fellowship Program at the University of Southern California.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Cannon has a strong record of community involvement. He served as a team physician for multiple high schools and universities, including Bolton High School, the University of Memphis, and Rhodes College. He also provided medical support to the Memphis Redbirds Baseball Team and participated in a medical missions trip to Belize in 2004, demonstrating a commitment to serving diverse populations. Dr. Cannon is a member of several medical societies, including the American Orthopaedic Association and the Tennessee Medical Association.
As a father of five children, Dr. Cannon enjoys spending time outside of work with his family. He enjoys participating in sports as well as hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He works as volunteer faculty at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and enjoys working with patients at the Church Health Center.
