Sam E. Murrell, MD
When surgery is needed, Dr. Murrell brings advanced experience in orthopaedic spine surgery and complex spinal reconstruction. His approach is built around careful diagnosis, thoughtful treatment planning, and matching each patient with the least invasive effective option whenever possible, while still offering high-level surgical expertise for more complex spine conditions.
Dr. Murrell currently serves as the Governor's appointed medical representative to the Tennessee Worker's Compensation Advisory Council. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery Board of Councilors. Dr. Murrell is a past President of the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society.
A former varsity oarsman at Harvard, Dr. Murrell enjoys working with student athletes as team physician at St. Agnes and St. Dominic. Dr. Murrell also believes in the importance of giving back to his community and donates his surgical skills to the Church Health Center. He is a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
